Discipline, precision and a clear mind

Karate-Kämpfer im Gi bei Mahamid Martial Arts

When martial arts are mentioned, many people think of Karate first. No wonder, because hardly any other discipline has shaped the image of the Far Eastern martial arts as much. Karate, whose name roughly means “empty hand”, is an unarmed martial art that originated in Okinawa. From Japan it went on to conquer the world. At Mahamid Martial Arts, Karate is an important building block because it brings a quality that is valuable throughout the entire system: absolute precision.

Sifu Hassan Mahamid began his martial arts journey in Karate and Sport Karate, among other disciplines. His roots go back to the early 1990s, when he trained at the World Karate & Kickboxing Council under Master Peter Spallek. This experience left a lasting mark on him and is still reflected today in the clean execution of every technique. In 2022 he was awarded the 7th Dan in Sport Karate and Kickboxing, a grade that stands for decades of dedication and deep understanding.

What Karate teaches you

Karate is far more than a sequence of punches and kicks. It is a school for body and mind. If you train regularly, you first work on the fundamentals. These include a stable stance, correct hip rotation and the ability to focus power at the right moment. Over time, this develops into a feel for distance and timing that can be transferred to any other martial art.

Karate for children, teenagers and adults

Karate is a wonderful introduction to the world of martial arts, especially for children. The clear structures provide stability, the etiquette teaches respect, and small successes boost self-confidence. Parents tell us again and again that their children become more focused and balanced. For teenagers and adults, there is also the sporting challenge, because Karate works the whole body while building mental strength.

In our concept, Karate never stands on its own. We use its strengths and combine them with the fluid movements of Wing Chun, the punching power of Kickboxing and the kicking techniques of Taekwondo. This way you benefit from the precision of Karate without getting stuck in rigid patterns. The result is a living, adaptable martial art.

It is also interesting how closely Karate is linked to the mental side. The repeated, clean execution of basic techniques trains not only the body but also patience and the ability to concentrate fully on one thing. This mental calm can be transferred to many areas of life, whether at school, at work or in dealing with stressful moments. Anyone who has learned to stay focused and composed in training benefits from this ability far beyond the mat. It is precisely this quiet strength that is one of the most beautiful effects of Karate.
